welcome to Our Club

We help kids learn track skills in a fun and energetic environment.

The Elliot Lake Track Club is a track and field sporting organization formed in Elliot Lake.

Our goal is to supply a fun, safe, self-esteem building program of physical activity to serve as a foundation for all sport and to improve physical, mental, cognitive and emotional well-being.  As a grassroots organization, we run the RUN JUMP THROW!  Program endorsed by Athletics Canada.  This FUNdamentals program teaches the skills of running, jumping and throwing and the technical skill progressions for track and field events.

We operate under the support and guidance from Track North in Sudbury and by former national athletes in our community.  Associated with the Minor Track Association of Ontario, Athletics Ontario and Athletics Canada, our purpose is to develop athletes in the sport of track and field by creating a supportive atmosphere to build each individual’s foundation to move towards excellence in training and competition.

Practices & Meets

Practices take place at the Elliot Lake Secondary School track.

A typical practice begins with a warm up, followed by an active warm up routine and moves into drills to practice proper running form and mechanics. These drills are followed by instruction in one or two events. Athletes will learn about the run, jump and throw events including:  hurdles, sprints, endurance, relays, jumps (long, triple and high jump) and throws (shot put, javelin, discus and hammer).  The final 10 minutes of each session is spent playing a running-related game, such as ultimate frisbee, obstacle course relay. A short strengthening and stretching session completes each session.

Practices run rain or shine!  Be prepared for all weather! You want to make sure you have all the equipment needed: water, layers of clothes, healthy snack for after our workouts, good running shoes, sunscreen (hopefully!), and a hat.

Athletes have the opportunity to participate in various track meets.

Optional Track Meets
